Pony Ride

Holly Paige Hayter

My love of horses started at 9 when my parent's bought me a chestnut Welsh Cob mare named Ginger for Christmas. It was love at first sight! And I haven't looked back since.

In my teens, I fostered and worked with rescue horses - everything from greenies to mentally and physically abused horses to untouched mustangs. It was then that I learned how much simple time, patience and good care could change a horse's life dramatically.

Convinced that I could not pursue my love for horses and focus on my academic career at the same time, I spent 2 years studying Journalism at the University of Texas at Tyler. Unsurprisingly, I couldn't stay away from the horses, so I transferred to Stephen F. Austin State University where I rode for their IHSA team for 3 years as a Hunt Seat rider, under Dr. Joe Gotti, while continuing my studies in Journalism and Equine Science.

It was during this time that I came across Ruth Keeling-Holt. Her detail-oriented lessons and complete devotion to the horse encouraged me to specialize my horsemanship journey through Dressage. She has pushed me to find more of myself in my work training horses than I ever thought possible.

The elegant readiness of the horse to match and be molded by an upper level Dressage rider continues to inspire me to pursue Dressage as my primary discipline with the fullness of my passions.

After deciding to focus on the art of Dressage, I have been awarded the Parelli Natural Horsemanship LEVEL 3 (of 4) Graduation Certificate, as well as bringing home USDF Grand Champion ribbons and Fourth place in the 2015 Silver Stirrup Award Regional championship (13th in the Nation) with the help of Sir Nigel my 17 hh Friesian/Percheron gelding.

Since 2010, I have been serving the good people of East Texas in their pursuit to better horsemanship through a combination of Dressage and Natural Horsemanship. Their similar theories of working a horse to its potential without force or fear, I use as my primary rule of training.

I routinely try to audit the modern masters and have ridden with USDF Silver Medalist Jim Eldridge and USDF Gold Medalist Pam Grace.

I hope you will allow me the pleasure of joining you and your horse on your journey to perfect harmony together.
